Engineering Development ↩
Design engineering support — going from idea to thing — is about providing skilled engineering development for your project at any stage in it's life cycle. Design engineering can cover anything from the initial research and development of an idea, through prototyping, initial low volume production and onto preparations for higher volume industrial manufacturing.
We have specific experience with:
- proof of concept development,
- rapid prototyping techniques,
- prototyping and low volume manufacturing,
- 3D printing,
- laser cutting,
- design for manufacture,
- product design,
- industrial automation,
- interactive museum exhibits,
- LoRaWAN and NB-IoT,
- Arduino microcontroller (including internet connected devices)
- stuctural engineering and stress & strain analysis,
As a “friendly design engineer”, we can often bridge the gap between a creative and an industrial partner so both parties get what they want by understanding the creative and technical elements.
We typically do consultancy work for artists, makers, startups and small to medium businesses to help them design and manufacture prototypes and small run productions. As we typically work with smaller clients, we understand the need to keep a tight rein on finances; we normally work with a fixed cost per project milestone so the client gets an identifiable agreed result at each stage without runaway costs.
We can provide teaching sessions for any of the areas that we normally work in, for example:
- Laser Cutting
- 3D Printing
- Arduino Microcontroller
and any of the in-house projects that we've worked on such as Doodlebots.
We've taught classes on these topics to children and adults and ran group activities for the whole family. And we have plenty experience with helping people understand technical content.
