Following our announcement that DefProc is a finalist for the Innovative Product or Service Award at the Liverpool Chamber Innovation in Business Awards, we’re delighted to share that we have been shortlisted for a number of other awards!

Make UK Manufacturing Awards: Innovation

We are thrilled to share that we are regional finalists for the Innovation Category in the North West at the Make UK Manufacturing Awards. Our entry for this award focused on two of our latest projects, H2Go and SmUPS. Both of these projects have created products that are the first of their kind. H2Go is the first low-cost domestic hydrogen sensor, and our design will serve as the blueprint for future manufactured devices. SmUPS is the first Smart UPS which will provide energy security to telecare, telehealth and virtual beds in the UK. As well as receiving Innovate UK funding, DefProc also holds the IP for this project. This will allow us to expand into new areas and create products using the technology developed through this project.

The winners will be announced at the Make UK North West Regional Dinner on the 7th of November.

Merseyside Independent Business Awards

DefProc is also shortlisted for the Trades or Manufacturing Business of the Year at the Merseyside Independent Business Awards. Founded by Morecrofts Solicitors in 2013, the awards celebrate independent businesses, their owners and those who support them. The winners will be announced on the 19th of October at the Titanic Hotel’s Rum Warehouse. We wish the best of luck to all the nominees!

Downtown in Business Livercool Awards

Jen is on the shortlist for the Digital, Tech & Innovation Personality of the Year at the Livercool Awards. Livercool highlights the ethos of “work hard, play hard”, celebrating people from the city who have made a significant contribution to the economic growth.

As DefProc’s managing director, Jen and the team have worked tirelessly over the past 12 months on several innovative projects. These include H2Go, SmUPS and a collaboration with Northern Gas Networks to develop a smart gas pressure sensor that will enable the rollout of domestic hydrogen. Between December 2022 and May 2023, we saw a 168% increase in pre-tax profit (from £15,041 to £40,392) against the same period the previous year.

Alongside client work, Jen contributes to the University of Liverpool’s Advisory Board for Electrical Engineering. As part of this, she attends events such as the university’s “Dragon’s Den” for their Master’s students. These events provide an opportunity for students to pitch their innovations to industry experts, receive feedback and foster new connections. Jen has also served on the Liverpool City Region Digital & Creative Cluster Board, offering her insights and expertise to ensure that the region’s digital and creative businesses are included in policy, strategy and funding decisions.

The winners of the Livercool Awards will be announced on the 23rd of November. Place your vote for Jen
